EMOTIONS - 'Why is Teddy sad?' Activity Pack
We created this ‘Why is Teddy sad?’ pack in order for you to be able to explore with children how sometimes something may feel wrong inside when there are no obvious cuts, bruises, etc.
As well as investigating the feeling of ‘sadness’ by talking about what might cause us to feel sad and what it actually feels like, this pack could also be a doorway to talking about mental health. It also aids in the mindfulness practice of recognising emotions.

These letter sheets are intended to aid young children in their familiarity with their initial letter.
Included are all the letters of the alphabet in capitals. These could be used for basic colouring or as the starting point for some collage work.

FOOTPRINT NAME LINEUP
Ideal for use within a classroom or preschool environment (but also adaptable as an individual resource for slightly younger children). Each child can colour in a set of footprints individually and then add their name (or have it added for them). After, the footprints can be placed along a classroom floor for lining up and every day they line up they are looking at their name. The sheets can also be used for younger children as part of developing the ability to recognise their own body parts and their written name.

‘KIND TO ME' DISPLAY CERTIFICATES/NOTES
Heart and Star shaped ‘Kind to me’ certificates/notes. Children may be encouraged to think (for example on a Friday) about who has been kind to them during that week. Children can then draw or write about how that person was kind to them and can give the certificate they have made to that person. 'WHEN...WAS A BABY' BOOKLET
Four sheets which can either be used separately or put together as a booklet. Each sheet compares an aspect of life when an individual was a baby and now to demonstrate how we all change as we grow. The spaces on the sheets are intended for drawings, however photographs or writing may also be used. On the first/front cover sheet there is space for a child’s name and 2 separate boxes for a drawing/photo of them when they were a baby and now. The subsequent sheets have spaces to compare toys, food and where they sleep/used to sleep. Tasks can be completed within settings/school or given to children as a home learning challenge.

'WHEN I GROW UP' SHEETS
Two different sheets intended for children to think about and record their thoughts concerning when they grow up. You may like to prescribe the area for them to think about e.g. the job they would like to do, or you may like to leave it as a more open ended task to allow the child(ren) to respond with what their initial thoughts are when looking forward in time. For example a child might say ‘be a nice person’, ‘have a family’, ‘learn how to drive a car’. Task can be completed within settings/school or given to children as a home learning challenge.
