National Children’s Gardening Week

National Children’s Gardening Week is an annual UK event that celebrates the joy of gardening with children, aiming to inspire young minds to connect with nature and develop gardening skills. Its dates often align with the May half-term to encourage family participation during the growing season.

🌱 What Is It?

Founded by gardening expert Neil Grant in 2015, National Children’s Gardening Week encourages children to engage in gardening activities, fostering a love for the environment and promoting outdoor learning. The event is supported by the UK gardening industry and the Greenfingers charity, which creates gardens for children in hospices.

🎉 2025 Highlights

  • Official Ambassador: Lee Connelly, known as the Skinny Jean Gardener, will lead a UK School Gardening Tour, aiming to engage 10,000 children through interactive gardening sessions.

  • Activities: Garden centres and community groups across the UK will host events such as seed planting, flowerpot decorating, and nature-themed crafts.
