Hi everyone,

Whether you’re teaching a reception class and half of your children are now returning to the classroom environment, a childcare setting and more of your parents are starting to send their children back as they return to work or a parent looking to help your child(ren) through the transition out of lockdown, this page is designed for you. We have considered which of our resources may be useful at this point in time and also created some brand new ones. We hope they help!

(If you are not yet a member, many pages have free sample resources and there are some additional free resources at the bottom of this page!)

  • Acknowledging and validating lockdown experiences

  • ‘Welcome back!’ resources

Brand new resources to help welcome back those children who have been absent from your setting.

  • Emotions - dealing with transitional feelings

During this time children may be finding they are dealing with new emotions or emotional responses which are stronger than those they have previously experienced. Here are some of our resources which may help children to identify, express and deal with these feelings.

  • Moving on - a lick of paint!

Whether you’re teaching a reception class and half of your children are now returning to the classroom environment or a childcare setting and more of your parents are starting to send their children back to you as they return to work, you may need to adapt or update some of your organisational resources. Here are a few key ones you may find useful.

  • Moving on - a reminder about expectations

As children return to your setting, they may need cues and reminders about the ethos you have built and your expectations.

  • Handwashing & Hygiene - FREE

  • Social Distancing - Parents/Carers

An increased number of children in your setting will mean an increased number of parents/carers at drop off and pick up times. You may find the following social distancing posters, signs and mats helpful.

  • Social Distancing - Children

You may find some of these resources useful.

  • Out and About again! - As things re-open

This may be a good time to remind children about road safety. Many may have experienced long stretches indoors and may benefit from a reminder about what to expect and how to stay safe.

As different activities, attractions, shops etc begin to open their doors at various points during the reopening roadmap, you may want to reinforce with your children what these places are and role-play what happens within them. We will be adding to this selection as things reopen.

You may also like to make use of some of our role-play packs which incorporate elements of social distancing. This will prepare children for the sorts of signs, floor mats, etc. they will see around and what they mean. In addition, children will continue to understand what is expected of them with regard to social distancing practices within wider society.
