World Kidney Day
World Kidney Day is a global awareness campaign held annually on the second Thursday of March to highlight the importance of kidney health, raise awareness about kidney disease, and encourage prevention, early detection, and treatment. World Kidney Day (WKD) was founded in 2006 as a joint initiative by the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations (IFKF). The goal was to raise awareness of kidney disease and promote better prevention, diagnosis, and treatment worldwide.
Since then, World Kidney Day has grown into a global campaign, observed in over 100 countries, including the UK, with various events, screenings, and educational programmes to highlight the importance of kidney health.
