What are ‘mammals’?

(Description appropriate for 2-7 year olds)

Mammals are a special group of animals that share some interesting features! They have warm bodies, which means they can keep cozey no matter the weather outside. Most mammals have fur or hair that keeps them warm, and they also have something called mammary glands, which help mummy mammals feed their babies with milk. Think about playful puppies, fluffy kittens, and even big elephants! Some mammals can fly like bats, while others swim like dolphins. So next time you see these animals, remember they are all part of the amazing mammal family!
